Around 1980, the cast of Guiding Light created this spoof of the show. Using current storylines and characters, they crafted these random scenes. Some are funnier than others, but it is neat to see some of the great characters back in the day.

This clip has the following scenes:

1. Commercial spoofs

2. Ed and Rita Bauer

3. Ed Bauer, Lanie Marler, and Mark Hamilton

  • Wow-- what a blast from the past! One of my current students directed me here, she was sure she saw me-- indeed, I was Lainie Marler. Wonderful to see! -- Kathleen Kellaigh

  • This spoof really cheers me up. I miss Guiding Light but love this parody. Marsha Clark, you are wild! Thanks for the laughs.

  • LMAO at Alan Berns! "This is CBS...well, not really." Loved how even the GL announcer was a part of the spoof!

  • @atcstudios It's nice to hear from a classic GL actor. I'm sorry Lainie wasn't there longer I would have loved seeing her reaction to Ben Warren in later years.

  • You know we better watch it or we'll really see commercials like this. "For the man with a little extra, Cucumber." I didn't remember Lanie before I saw this spoof, glad I did. Ed would be fool enough to fall for this. Love it when she throws the hammer on Floyd.

  • Oh the cast and crew must have had a blast doing this. Now THIS should go into the tv academy archives!

  • That was hilarious. I've never even seen Lainie until now.

  • I love that Ed, Lainie, Mark scene (with a little of Floyd), and Mark and Lainie telling Ed to ask Rita about the "seeing" part of their conversation. And Mark's disgust when Ed says he'll "see" him.
