In which I discuss my hilarious discovery that, despite what my memory told me, 3D World Runner looks NOTHING like it's box art!

  • When I remember back to the many locations from the games I played as a child, I can somehow see them as these full and detailed environments, just as vivid and real as a memory of any other place, with an almost otherworldly air.

I guess all that stuff they say about the power of a child's imagination is actually true.

  • Regardless, it's a pretty beast game.

  • This is your brain... this is your brain on Nostalgia. Any questions?

  • Box art is a bit misleading sometimes. I think you have to look at it as more of an artists rendering of the game description or basic story. It's similar to fiction book cover art. There's a visual representation of some aspect of the novel on the cover, but it really doesn't reflect the book as a whole, and can sometimes be misleading. Even some video box cover art has utilized this trick of the trade, particularly in the 70s and 80s.

  • The music, is it from the opening of Ninja Gaiden 2, James Bond, or Yun's stage music from Street Fighter III? Or all three?

    :)

  • I've not yet had that experience with a game.

  • The gameplay is hypnotizing.

  • Glad to see you're still makiing videos and very inciteful ones no less! it made me think of my own childhood and playing castlevania on the gameboy. I stll have trouble when i think nostalgically differentiating box art such as castlevania from the actual graphics, atmosphere and experience. box art I think meant a lot more back then than it does nowadays.

  • Well it kinda looks like the boxart. At least a little.

  • Never seen that game, it looks sick!!! Love your vids gamejew! :)
