  • Fully, freely, faithfully and fruitfully? The problem with doctrines is you can't use your brain to think and accept or disagree about certain subjects of the dogma. I have a free will and I can choose what to do or what I believe. Why do you compare faithfulness with fruitfulness like they were the very same thing? I don't understand.

  • @TaniaMillaray Check out our contraception response video (up in the Video Response). If you're still confused, check out the resources we suggest at the end of that video.

  • @cobalt49 Catholics advocate Natural Family Planning in place of artificial contraception. If you are financially unable to support a child, you can use NFP with your spouse. The best way to stop abortions is to not have sex unless you are ready and able to have a child, or to practice NFP with your spouse.

  • So you are telling me that I don't love my wife because we don't want to have a child while we don't have the financial means to support one? I do love her and I very much want a child, but a child is a big commitment and I am not willing to bring them into a situation where I cannot give them the best possible life. Fertility isn't a problem. Reducing a life to a biological imperative is a problem. I am going to guess you are also anti-abortion. Best way to stop abortions: more contraception.

  • I don't remember the last time America was a catholic theocracy.

  • Seriously? The reason it's wrong to use contraception is because you say "fruitfulness" is part of a good marriage, and don't you want a good marriage??? Please!

  • Actually, fertility is bad when the couple cannot provide for the child. Birthcontrol has also controlled an illness that could take my life, btw. I am not a baby machine. Sex with my future husband while Im on the pill has no link to lies or cheating. It is healthy and beautiful. Yay, Science!

  • It's actually saying that you don't want a baby. What sort of logic do you have? Fertility isn't a problem. Who said it was?

  • @siaic

    1. I do trust God, and his physics that says that if i don't wear a seat-belt, i'm stupid.

    2. I do trust in God, and the immune system he gave me, which is greatly benefited by vaccines.

    3. God did make me, He does know me best, but i think he would rather have me wear glasses and see.

    4. It's worldly? i don't think God will send me to hell for using my computer.

    5. If you can memorize the whole bible, you're beast. but i'll continue to use the internet.

  • @cobalt49 how bout responsible sex?

  • Loved it! And loooved the Saint Therese of Lisieux"s picture on the wall!!!!

  • @cobalt49 The error lies in the intention of the heart. By using a contraceptive, you are willfully sterilizing an act that is naturally fruitful. This is why it is considered to go against nature. To quote Christopher West, as I did earlier with the abstinence bit, the difference between NFP and contraception is like this one: "Grandma will die a natural death one day"; vs. "Let's kill Grandma right now". Both end results are the same, Grandma dead; but as seen there is a grave error in one.
