The US really started to spend during Reagan's term, and then during Bush 1st and somewhat less 2nd term. The money they mostly spent was on big business subcontractors, who in turn like them very much, thank you, and would like to see them again in power. Why is it that you view a handout to lockheed martin, northrop grumman, or boeing as not a handout. But you view feeding the hungry to temporarily abate death by starvation as a handout. You must truly hate your own life and thusly feel that everyone else must share these ideals. I am not religious, but I do believe that life has value over and above federal reserve notes.
