One of Byrd's pop song variations written in the late 16thC. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Byrd
There are 2 differing versions of this piece in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book (aka Q Elizabeth's Virginal Book) - probably compiled by Francis Tregian, during a 20 year imprisonment for his faith from 1583/4-1602.
A virginals is a small-scale harpsichord for domestic use - it was named in honour 'the virgin queen' [Elizabeth 1] who was reputedly a good player.

  • I really enjoyed this. Thank you.

  • That thing needs tuning. Otherwise ok. Music well written!

  • Great performance! But why are the final bars cut off in the video?
