On February 18, 2007 this Delta Connection Embraer E170 skidded off the runway at Cleveland Hopkins International around 3:30 PM. Yes, skidded; it didn't CRASH like the stupid news channels all said.

Visibility was down to 1/2 mile at the time i guess. Everybody was ok.

The thing i don't understand is why they didn't evacuate. Even though there was snow on the ground, a plane skidding on its nose (the nose gear collapsed) can lead to many things. Couldn't hurt to evacuate on the slides, but instead the waited for the Fire Dept to show up to get them off via a step ladder or something like that.

  • And once again, YouTube managed to screw up the audio video timing.

  • I dont even remember this! and i live in cleveland!

  • LOL. The news always tries to make a somewhat mundane situation like the end of the world. That's why whenever aviation mishaps happen and they report it on the news I get pissed because they make it sound worse than it actually is:-) just like the JetBlue flight or the American Airlines incidents.

  • @agjackso yea thet do.

  • You can always count on someone getting hurt during an evacuation. Most likely minor, such as a broken wrist or ankle, it is something that the crew would need to consider. Also the snow in that area was pretty deep. I think once they knew that there was no post crash fire, it made sense to avoid possible injuries by waiting for CFR and air stairs to arrive.

  • That was Shuttle America(Delta Connection) Not the Delta Airlines. Mainline Delta does not fly E170s. Why didn't the crew evacuate. STUPID!!!!!!!!!

  • has danielle sarino changed chicago for cleveland? she used to work for fox in chicago where she had a segment called the bottom line on fox news at 9.
