  • Hi. I just got drift HD cam and tested it on 1080p, 30fps and the quality of picture seems incredibly bad. If you look at edges its all REALY grainy and blury and broken to peaces. Aspecialy if you compare it to older drift cameras the quality is almos uncomperable. Is it because I have some wron firmware (it says "bridge") or the camera is broken? or Its just the way it is?

(btw its not the light condition. I tryed it otsid with full sunlight with same resoult) (sample is in videoresponse)

  • @sirClogg Get the latest firmware and reload it. I test the Drift HD and had the same initial problems. After a firmware upgrade it made a huge difference. Let me know how it goes.

  • @PointOfViewCameras And what is the latest firmware name? I looked at driftinnovation and I didnt see firmware dedicated to DRIFT HD (only to HD170, stelth, x170 etc) I was afraid of messing something up if I used incorrect one..

  • @sirClogg I'm curious how you got the camera? it's not released until the end of the month. Thats why they don't have the firmware yet.

  • where can I buy one? and how much do they cost?

  • @giosoccer20 if you click on our link in the description it will take you to our store. Around 350!

  • thats better!!! : ) thanks POV for the vids

... looks when mounted to your googles, for me I don;t want it grabbing attention or being a distraction so unfortuantely no matter how good quality the GoPro is, looks wise it loses it for me.... Still undecided between this in the Contour +

  • I don;t know why people think this looks cheap, to me the quality looks good.

And comparing to the GoPro, well add the LCD backpac to the GoPro, then tell me how much it is compare to the drift. PLus the Drift has the remote. WHich for me would be great, have the camera mounted anywhere and be able to trun it off and on without the hassle of getting to it. Example. Your in the car, it's outside mounted.

I'vw had a Contour, and live the form factor. I'll never get a GoPro because of fugly looks

  • @mkrmec I know they look ridiculous, like someone strapped on one of those old disposable cameras to their helmet.

  • I will stick to my GoPro HERO2 Motocross Edition for 3 Reasons

    1. GoPro is 50$ Cheaper

    2. Some of the Reviews on the Drift are bad.

    3. I Already bought a GoPro.

If GoPro Does not work out for me, I will probably go with Countour. Drift will be my last choice.

  • @PointOfViewCameras Any updated video's of the Drift HD?

  • @mkrmec than the gopro. So I chose that. Yeah, editing videos in MOV format is harder since the guys at drift innovation definitely didn't do a good job at complying with the MOV standard, which annoys me, definitely, but it works good enough I suppose. I'll come up with encoder settings for it so I can re-encode it to a solid MP4/MPEG stream soon enough. Other than that the big thing gopro has going for it is durability, it's invincible FFS. Trade-offs...like everything else.

  • @mkrmec I ended up buying the Drift HD ($370 USD). I'm loving it so far, got a water proof mount. Reason I got it was that I want to use it primarily for POV recording on my motorcycle, and it was built from the ground-up to be a helmet cam. It has some drawbacks from the GoPro. The MOV format sucks, most Mac's I've tried it on can't handle it (and Apple came up with the standard...this means it's not 100% compliant..), it's definitely more fragile, but other than that I like it more

  • @MrSlowestD16 apart that GoPro cameras look awful where ever you put them? nothing really :D
