Fun fact - the "cheese" obstacle was taken out that yr b/c of the recurrent issue. In fact, the next group that taped after these kids (same day) got a 2nd & 3rd cut because they couldn't find the flag past the 60 scs. I was there.

@dd2000fanatic This was actually the first way the big cheese obstacle was done. A lot of people had trouble with it so they changed it into just making the contestant dive through the cheese.

Thats exactly what I was wondering. I hate it when there is a obstacle that slows you down when you have so momentum, but it happens sometime

i agree green death, i have a lot of the earliest eps taped, and in season 1, they didn't show the overhead shot of the sundae slide used here...that didn't come until late season 2, around the time the music changed...

I doubt this is "season one" because none of the music heard in this clip was NOT used back then. Seeing the (c) date at the end I know that this episode was taped in 1988 a whole two years after the show first hit the airwaves.

Why couldn't they have done the big cheese the usual way of diving through the small hole instead of wasting precious seconds searching the entire cheese?
