When I first visited Downtown after moving here from NYC, it felt like a ghost town. I was like " It's 2 in the afternoon, where the hell is everybody ?" But, Orlando is beautiful and clean and because it's small the people are really nice. I love Lake Eola Park, I could sit there all day! And downtown at night is gorgeous with a few trendy places. Great place to live.
orlando could have had twice as many buildings if the condo market didn't crash. We could have past tampa and jacksonville for better skyline. Orlando got 4 out of about 20 of their big projects built.
There opening a "world class" museum down town it's BEAUTIFUL! So be sure to see it when it opens I think in 2010. It's been in all over the local news.
What the hell are you people talking about? When is downtown Orlando ever empty? I live here and there are people walking around Orange and Central ave near Lake Eola all hours of the day. The city is very pedestrian, and is literally teeming on the weekends with people walking around to restaurants and nightclubs. It is one of the best cities to party in that I have ever been to. The Thornton Park area is also beautiful. There are many crappy areas of Orlando, but downtown is not one of them.
