German composer James Last wrote this song especially for Connie, who recorded it as the flipside of her single "Spanish Nights and You" in September 1966. It scored decently on adult contemporary and easy listening charts, but it was not a mega hit in the United States. I think it is a marvelous song. (Wayne Newton had a hit with it, too.)

  • This song is lightly likable, but the three James Last songs on Connie Sings Bacharach, Last, et al.--No Sun Today, After You, and the INCREDIBLE What Good Are Tears--are the killers. Her brokenhearted response to them can't be all artfulness; it really does feel as though she's channeling her own experience. It's a shame that Connie didn't do more by James Last, because I suspect they were made for each other. More's the pity that these recordings didn't attract greater attention when released.

  • @sable54 I love all of those songs you mentioned and agree with you. "After You" is one of my all-time favorites. I've got it here on my channel! Thanks for watching and for the insightful commentary! Best, Ken
