Thanks for getting me to Sydney!

00:04 - Strauss: Don Juan
02:45 - Rossini: La Scala di Seta
04:32 - Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
05:22 - Mozart: Oboe Concerto in C, KV314

I, Emmanuel Danan, 26, have studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel-Aviv (B. Mus) and am currently studying with Prof. Gregor Witt (Solo Oboist - Staatskapelle Berlin) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock.

I play a wonderful oboe crafted by Ludwig Frank in Berlin.

I hope to move back to Berlin soon, but since I'll be auditioning to various orchestras in the next few months, I have no idea where I'll end up. Know about interesting auditions/job openings? Hit me up, I want to know :-)

  • This oboe has a nice dark, warm sound but it's still vibrant, not dull. By the way, could you make me some reeds? Just kidding (sort of). Oh, also very nice phrasing by the way and great expression.

  • @sr14225 Thanks Sheryl :-) I won't make you reeds (I barely have time to make my own haha) but I can offer you the next best thing:

I'm preparing a german-reed-making blog which will go online in July. I'll give out all my secrets ^_^

You'll be surprised by some of the details (for example, my reeds are between 67 and 68mm long!).

Good luck with picking your oboe until then.

  • I am a 9th grade oboist and i love listening to the beautiful music you make! You are an inspiration for me, you are so talented!

  • @mchemidlin Thank you! Comments like this inspire me to go on :-) Good luck on your way up... Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions

  • Emmanuel, You are absolutely hands down the BEST! What brand instrument do you play?

  • @doodie5009 Thank you :-) I play a wonderful instrument handcrafted by Ludwig Frank in Berlin.

I actually had the luck of playing Don Juan with an orchestra last week... I had a blast!

  • Hello Emmanuel!

Sounds great!!! What tubes are you playing on L. Frank? And your reed lenght?

    Thanks a lot and greetings!

  • Bravissimo - well done..lovely musical playing

  • Could you have asked for a better acoustic?
