Years before "The Sound of Music" and lovely Julie was already twirling! AWESOME WOMAN IS AWESOME!
-
It's insane that 60% of the American population (of 1957) watched this live. Imagine that record today?
-
DUDE I LOVE THIS SONG MAN!!!!!!!!!! :ooo especially if its sung by Brandy BUT julie is cool also :D
-
Cinderella was lucky to have to amazing women like Julia Andrews and Brandy play her
-
@Gilmore1316 she IS the key.
-
@wateriestfire In the Brandy version instead of saying "slave in Calcutta" she says thief.
-
Brandy's style gave the song a much more deeper feeling of loneliness, which is absent in this version, although the vocals of Andrews are much better, but the mood doesn't seem as natural or believable.
also I laughed at the "slave in calcutta" part, that would have been funny in the "new" version of the song

What a cute Cinders she makes..
-
does anyone know if she is singing this in its original key? Thanks!

@funkyflyswim Actually, she mistreated her vocal folds during Victor Victoria and ended up with nodes. We know now that they go away after a few weeks of vocal rest, but back then, it was assumed that they had to be cut out, so she had surgery, which damaged the chords.
So there you go! Fun fact!
What I love about this is that something like 120 million people stayed home and watched this on TV on that Sunday night. It set a record for TV viewer-ship.

Julie Andrews' voice is still as good as it was at the beginning. Amazing!
