A multitalented young lady indeed. I first saw her on some nightime show doing great interpretations of classic songs from the 1940's...then on PBS in a production of CANDIDE. She's a natural for musical comedy and has a really great voice, although not of sufficient timbre for the operatic stage.
Jeez, that super-high E flat almost passed out of my range of hearing! XD I'm not surprised if the dogs heard it. To those opera-lovers, musical-singer-critics: Yes, Kristin Chenoweth may not have as good technique as Natalie Dessay, or Damrau (sp) but for most people they can't tell the difference, so just enjoy it. Besides, even you have to admit her performance is just sparkling, cute, and entertaining.
@Felicity1247 As one of the critics; No her technique is not as good as Damrau or Dessays, but kristin's personality and acting outshines there's by miles. This may not be vocal perfection, but it's an incredible performance none the less and incredibly entertaining. She's hilarious.
@ tenor220: Glad to see someone agrees! For the most part, I haven't seen anything from many of those critics but criticisms that only focus on the singing. I tip my hat off to you and any others. I'm no vocal instructor at all, but I can tell that Dessay and Damrau do sing better than her. However, none of their performances made me laugh as hard as Kristin's.
