( http://www.everymantri.com ) Two minutes---that was the difference between first and second place at the 2009 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. But it was more than enough time for 36-year-old Australian Craig Alexander to savor his victory over Californian Chris Lieto.

  • Ummmm .... like Usane Bolt at the 2008 Olympics 100m?

It's pretty much an Ironman tradition not to sprint into the tape unless you have to ... and after 8 hours of competition, it rarely comes down to a spring finish. The winner take the finish tape/banner in their hands and raises it over their head for the photographers. The sponsors (event and athlete) may be behind that one! lol

  • have you ever thought about the fact that they may want to enjoy this special moment?!

  • Awesome. I know its a long race, but why do the winners always walk through the finish line? I would think that finishing strong would look better
