WAXandWIRES TV - Episode 6

Sticking with the new shorter format, I give a quick rundown of what iTunes LP brings to the table, what works and what doesn't. Can it resurrect album sales in a digital market?

I like iTunes LP for the most part. They need to make it more easily accessible from a permanent link on the home page of the iTunes store. I want to be able to see every ITLP album on a single page quickly and easily, which right now there's not a lot. Second, they need to transfer the experience to the iPhone so that you can have the full album, including bonus content, on the go.

What do you think?

  • That's the problem. There's no easy and intuitive way to browse iTunes LP albums. You have to search for an album you want, and then see if it's available in iTLP on a case-by-case basis.

They should make a tab like with "iTunes U", "TV Shows" etc.

  • Can I transfer the itunes lp between computers? Is it a file to sync with itunes, or is it something that integrates into itunes?

  • how can i find this from the itunes store

  • It's better than iTunes giving you only the album with nothing more that a PDF digital booklet or even just the songs to the album with no digital booklet at all. i mean what's the point of buying an album like that basically bare bones?. i could do that by going to a B&M store and at least get uncompressed audio over iTunes 256 kbps AAC compressed audio. at least with iTunes LP it somewhat makes up for iTunes lack in audio quality and not having the actual physical CD in your hands. it's good.

  • I love iTunes LP. the first one i ever bought was Dave Matthews Band "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King and it was filled with nice amount of cool extras and bonus tracks. i did'nt care for the price though to be honest but it's quality. i've bought another iTunes LP recently and it was great as well and this time the price was right and had even more extras. as long as they give the customer plenty of extras over the physic retail release and the price is reasonable i wiil continue to buy them.

    Hell no! It sucks!

I don't like how if you're listening to the album and jump into iTunes LP, the song stops and the loop begins. I was very disappointed with iTunes LP.

It should be a lot better, so here's hoping they improve it.
