Back to Liskeard again for us and back again at The Eliot Hotel. This week it is a 40th Birthday Celebration at the newly refurbished Eliot House Hotel in Liskeard, which has just re opened as it has been close for quite some time now. Since it has re opened we have taken quite a few bookings at this venue and tonight it was our second visit there since last month. Tonight was booked as a Karaoke and Disco and I had a feeling it was going to be as good as last time we were there even though it was a smaller crowd of about 70.
With me on this evening was Mickey Mike from my village and Darren who was driving for me as I have a small injury that wont allow me to use a clutch in a vehicle at the moment which is now in its 3rd month and still not healing, so I was really grateful that Darren could help me on this evening. We set of from our office at about 4.30pm and arrived at the venue for 5.30pm as we were due to start round about 7.00ish. When we got to the venue Mickey and Darren unloaded the equipment for me and then set up. The organizer had arranged the tables into a horse shoe shape as there were only 70 people as I said already on this evening and I have to say the layout of everything was beautiful and perfect. We put in one of our large shows for this event as there was plenty of room and when all the equipment was brought in for me, myself, Darren and Mickey then started to set up for this evening. It took us about an hour to set the show up as we pulled out all the stops and put in one of our large shows as I had a feeling it was going to be a night to remember just like last time we were at this Venue. Well 7.00 came and we were ready to go and I could see that the guests were beginning to arrive by the car load and this venue was beginning to fill up rather quickly. We started playing music for the first hour as requested and the music we played was a bit of an 80's theme as this is what was asked for as the guests arrived and had a chat to each other before the Buffet was served. The Buffet was served at about 8.15pm and we waited for everyone to have something to eat before we really started the party. Well 9.00pm came and I called the Birthday Girl onto the dance floor as they were bringing a birthday cake out with lots and lots of candles. As the candles were being blown out we played and sung Happy Birthday and then started the Karaoke.
About 15 minutes after we started back up I could see that everyone was in a really happy party mood. The requests for Karaoke was coming in at a really nice pace and as you can see from the various pictures we had quite a few people doing Karaoke up till 11.00pm and after that we ended the evening with the two hours of party music and requests. The whole evening was a great success and I was in a really good mood even though I was in a hell of a lot of pain with my leg injury again.
Well we finished at 1.00am and we were all really shattered myself, Darren and Mickey packed away the equipment and then Darren and Mikey loaded it back into the van for us. It took us about an hour to pack everything away and load the van and we eventually got home about 2.30am.
Well as you know Wednesday Nights we are back with our Karaoke Party at Mango Tango's in Falmouth then Friday night I am back D.J.ing at Mango's. Next Saturday it's back to The Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club for us for another Wedding Reception and like always we are looking forward to another successful evening.
