Tornado Ripped Through Kingsport Tennessee "September 3, 2011

We were out in this when it happened. Today the news told it was a severe storm for all of us who seen it and I have talked to many a Severe Strom Does NOT come from a hot sunny clear day drop to the ground nor does it sound like a train SCREAMING coming at you! We as well as many seen the twister with our on eyes! The Back Of The Hobby Lobby And Sun Tan City is out the roof fell and they have water damage bad! There was a gas leak that accured as well. My Husband and 4 year old were walking around the back like they do when I am tanning. We left to a safer building and about 10 minutes later it hit. Thank God we left and went where we did. "Someone Was Watching From Above Keeping Us Safe" There Is No Doubt! My Plans were to go to a store then to tan if I had done that we may have been killed or injured bad.

@RandomKidsRule On the news that day my Sis txt as we got into the car to head home because she seen where the news said it was a tornado in Kingsport and scared her she lives in Bristol

Glad that you and your family were unharmed! I used to work at the Batteries Plus next door to Sun Tan City. It's amazing people were not killed...could've been so much worse.

Also, it was a microburst, not a tornado. This can be confirmed by the characteristics of both the radar data and the damage the storm caused. Regardless, a microburst can have wind speeds up to 168 mph...which is equivelant to an EF4 tornado. I doubt the winds speeds were that high, but clearly they were very fast.

@Tennessee131 Thank You I am to I am so glad we walked out of the tanning salon and got up the road fast . But the news did say Kingsport was hit by a tornado my sister txt me from Bristol as we were getting in the car that day to try and get home scared because the news said yes it was a tornado One of the men from AEP was at Krogers at the time and he said he seen what it was as well. If you notice Kingsports New Times are the one saying severe storm but not the others lol

@crazaysara86 I am so glad I walked out of the tanning bed when I did my husband and 4 year old were walking behind the building. We went up the road and stayed in another store till it was over

I was in the allandale walgreens when it happened, my sister Beth the cosmetician there said that hobby lobbys back wall caved in. The storm was bad over there but I couldnt imagine being that close, it sure came hard and fast!!
