This is the Australian band Wa Wa Nee performing the song "Sugar Free" (from their self-titled CD) on the Arsenio Hall Show back in 1987. I captured this from my own VHS-recorded copy of the broadcast from back in the day. :)

you can tell they had some Morris Day and the Time Influence, they have that Minneapolis sound to them, although they are from Australia

@CartoonsAndGameShows you are so true on that one, I heard a snippet of this mixed in with What Have You Done for Me Lately and never could find out who sang this or who the band was until today!! finally found out today yes, after so many years like back in the mid 80s.....

Wa Wa Nee was great. Unfortunately, us American missed out compared to their popularity else ware. Always seem to be the case.

Paul's stage presence is more like a white James Brown than it is of Prince but still a good performance.

You can definitely see the Prince influence with Pauls stage prescence. Not knocking it at all, the brother is THROWING DOWN!!!
