Thanks. I'm stuck tho' I want my nanokontrol to control only the effects params on the particular track I'm on, not do the 'lock' thing and for each slider to control all the effects on every channel. I haven't selected 'lock' on any track effect but this is the way ableton is reacting. Have you got any ideas? thanks Adam

I use "Remote" ON for a hardware device when i use custom midi mapping to assign its knobs and faders. otherwise i enable the same device under "Control Surfaces" if i want to use Ableton's preset mapping for my particular hardware device with any of their software devices. You can only use the "Control Surface" device map when a particular software device is highlighted (or right-click to lock Control Surface to device). If you custom midi map then you can tweek a knob when not highlighted.
