In one of my first ever videos, I went to MacBride Station in Drogheda in the 1990s to film some of the action. Here are some cement train movements shot that Saturday in summer. Excuse the vibrations - I had a cheap tripod!

  • A good video. It looks very open, not fenced off. I would have imagined Irish practice would be similar to the UK. 5*, and I love railway vids:-))))

  • @G0IMB It's all changed since then. All fenced off and secured. Commuters used to use the Boyne Viaduct to cross the river to the other side of town. Not any more!! They prosecute trespassers now.

  • Looks relaxed like Portugal at that time. I remember when I last visited Northern Portugal I saw a notice saying not to Tresspass on the Railway: A Law Decree (Decreto-Lei). No-one ever took any notice of it and crossed the bridge between Viana do Castelo and Darque. Only difference between Portugal is you have High level platforms like the UK, but these are becoming standard in portugal, too. Is the Boyne bridge a constraint on capacity: Not true double track due to a re-build in the 1930s?

  • @G0IMB There are two tracks alright, but they are interlaced so two trains cannot pass through the middle span of the bridge.

  • at 2.02,it brought back fond memoiries

  • Why that particular moment ?

  • thanks alot for sharing

  • great stuff.i love the part around 2:12 when it's just crossing the point on the viaduct

  • just the sweet sound of the goods train coming out of adelaide yard up here in belfast m8,i use to sneak off to the local station, just trying to catch these mighty beasts on their way down south with guinness wagons or containers

  • Yes, you could get away with those things back then. I remember people used to use the Viaduct to get to the north side after getting off the trains from Dublin. It was an everyday occurence. Not now though. You'd be prosecuted for doing such a thing.
