long hair is actualy more masculine, throughout history it has been more common for men to have long hair and that has been seen to be a masculine image far more than not. I actually think Shannon looks far more feminine with short hair more kempt more of a pretty boy if you like...

About his hair...or lack of. Makes him look far more masculine, which reminds me of the song Galaxie. I think his long hair + attractive face made his appearence more androgyness and he wanted to be taken seriously....so, it was off with the feminine hair!
