That red weather computer looks like a Speak N' Spell! Ah yes, severe weather coverage in the 1980's. Any other grown folks out there still get a little chill running down your spine when you see those old radar screens that remind you of being woke up in the middle of the night just in time to see a tornado warning, and with no Doppler not knowing where it was? Good times, good times!
Wow...they look like kids! I graduated from high school in '82, when this aired, back then I thought they were old ;~) I realize now they weren't, of course, lol. Ch. 6 always had the best news in my humble opinion.
They just changed their "6" logo during that week from the "neon" version (used since '76 to '82) to the "lined version" that they used until 1997/98.
The Solidarity Day indicates that this is from 1981, not 1982. This sounds right because this was the first week with this package and name (and it obviously tripped up Janet Hall at the end of the video: "Total -- Channel 6 News".
Dude!! The wind speed thing @ 4:46 clocked 95 MPH... when was that from??

I remember these days!!!! :-) I thought, for a moment, that Mike Royer was about to go into singing "I Ran" by "A Flock Of Seagulls"!!!!!!

Actually, Royer jumped to Channel 13 to host a local morning talk show. IIRC, he didn't start anchoring the news until sometime in the mid '90's.

Scott Richards is still at WBRC, and Mike Royer switched from weather to news when Royer jumped to WVTM in 1990.
