Now follow along with me. Is she saying these words correctly? I think not! This mele was composed for Queen Ka'ahumanu who was born in Hana, Maui. Ka'uiki is a natural hill fortress that protected Hana from invaders. Why do people love to show off what they no little of? No disrespect! But, as a native Hawaiian this is an insult!

@Haemosis It baffles me that you think she is promoting Hawaiian culture! Please explain to me how this video promotes Hawaiian culture. I decline your suggestion to post a corrected version...my hula is reserved for my students and not just anybody on Youtube.

@GoldSchlage Settle down hater, atleast she is doing something towards promoting the culture. Im Maori not Hawaiian so wouldnt have a clue who is right or wrong but Maori have worked hard to have our culture and tikanga recognised. My fathers generation were caned at school if they spoke maori where as now it is taught in schools and we have 2 TV channels dedicated to the language. If you know so much then you should post a corrected version of this and dont put down people who try.

I wonder why she didn't reply with what this song is about. I would LOVE to hear her interpretation.

I suggest you get a copy of the lyrics to this mele your words are all wrong. It's "ku'u pu'u Ka'uiki" not ku pu Kawiki. You obviously don't know what you are chanting or dancing about. Please learn before you post things like this on the internet. Though your intentions may have been good, your laziness to research your dance only adds to the degredation of Hula and Hawaiian culture. Please remove this until you learn what you are doing.
