India's $35 laptop

IT engineers from Bangalore's IISc and four IITs have come up with a laptop at the cost of mere 35 dollars.

i don`t know why people are comparing it with ipad .. ipad is for commercial purpose and has tons of features this machine will never have .. this is a low cost machine developed by Indians to make technology accessible to every one .. initially it will be available only to students and probably letter will be made available to rest of the population.. might be useful for some other countries in africa and asia too ..

@umrangsoiscool Yeah tons of features for $600 or more. No thanks!! Keep believing your Apple BS. Just like people still pay for and use MS when Linux is already out there. I use laptops that run on Ubuntu for free. This machine might be cheaper but not hardware, its still made in Taiwan. It is cheaper because instead of being greedy it was written by students to help people not to make someone into a billionaire.

you may have an ipad my dear... but be happy for other less fortunate ones who can't...

why this comparision with the iPad?! iPad is cool... but this device is not a luxury device.. itsa basic computing device... i still have a computer running Pentium-1 133MHz processor, 64MB RAM, and 2GB hard disk... it runs on a stripped down linux... and it works great! this tablet has better specs than my old computer! i dont see any reason to ridicule it... as long its functional, go for it!!

dude... i dont think even a chinese tablet under $35 is available... had this been the case, the markets would have been flooded with such chinese tablets... i think the device is definitely innovative... take a look at the specs...
