dx10.1 isnt visually better than dx10, its much better in performance, booth are visually equal though

Far Cry 2 has 10.1 support. Far Cry 2 uses DirectX 10.1 to improve AA by reading the multisampled depth buffer.

Even if he is playing it on DX10.1 that doesn't mean the game supports DX10.1. The game will work even on DX11 but it won't use it's graphic enhancements because that is what it won't support. Far Cry 2 and many other games can run on DX10.1 but they don't support it's graphic enhancements.
