  • @Airlinerfreak Thank you =D, i don't like a380, too big for me

  • That printer is mainly used to print ACARS messages, like weather, notams (snowtams etc...) or any info the company wants to send to the crew.

  • can someone tell me why does this airplane has a printer aboard. as you can see in minute 4:52, you can see at the bottom a paper coming out. What is that for?

  • @TheLpd1 the autobrake system is good for the first moments after touchdown. But some pilots prefer manual braking because they can adjust the brakes to the desired exit of the runway. The autobrake system would contiune braking down constantly which would lead to a longer blocking time of the rwy. The A380 has a "brake to vacate" system, where you enter the desired exit and the autobrake adjusts the braking action, so that you have taxi speed at "your" exit.

  • @BarakAshit Due to this being an Airbus, the control of the aircraft goes with two joysticks, called sidestick. Each pilot has one on his side. The F/O has it on his right side and the CPT has his sidestick on the left side. Just check some cockpit photos of airbus a/c and you will see it.

  • @battyboy50 Its the managing the weather, traffic and stuff before the flight thats tiring and setting up the plane so its most efficient and safe before you let the auto take over. Also in emergencies pilots need to know exactly what to do so that's when they really count. When there are strong changing winds during landing the pilots are usually better at controlling than the computer.

  • @Airshow2010 Hmmm interesting. So if in jets such as this, the pilots do not really do THAT much, why does becoming a commercial pilot require SO much work? Such as 7+ years flying in the AF? I realize its a very hard job I am sure but seems like so much work for such little pay (start out pay is horrendous especially in regional flying)

  • @battyboy50

Only small adjustments are needed by pilots as most systems go by themselves as planned and don't need to be touched often in flight. In this vid the autopilot is navigating the plane to the runway while the pilot monitors and adjust some stuff until 3:06 when the left guy hand flies the plane to the runway using the two throttle levers and a joystick on his left. After landing the flaps are stowed, landing lights turned of and APU started..

  • So I am completely new to air planes etc, it seems to me that.. the man on the left is the one doing the most work.. but.. does not seem like much.. Are all air planes these days basically flown by themselves? Auto Pilot and the 2 "Pilots" are there for when things go bad or?

  • Where is the yoke or steering yoke?
