This video is just a walk up a creek as I follow a trail of blasted rock from an old mine from the 1920s. I am mainly following the trail of shattered quartz rock in a creek since most of the old prospectors used to mine quartz veins in search for gold in this area. The area has a lot of growth due to the large amounts of rain so needless to say that the mine is probably under a slumpped bank or several decades of organic debris somewhere in the area that I finally ended up at. I hope you enjoy the hunt.

  • ive got a spot down here in nz where the tunnel is a solid quartz vein probably 8-10ft wide and at this stage is running into the mountain a good 30 metres .

  • Gentlemen, I am the Fred refered to in this video. I found these pld mines in the 80's and finally staked them and reopened them in the late 90's. The shaft Ron was looking for was up on a bench to the left of the creek. In the video you could see several large trees to the right. The old Downey shaft was just past those trees and sunk into a bedrock outcropping. There is no record of what Mr Downey got other than a life threatening injury. I was unable to find anything worth working.

  • Would I be right in saying you need to look for the clear quartz rock than the plain white?

  • Have a look at 5.35 behind the bush is the mine entrance..

  • keep hunting guy, but im sure you know that all that quartz might have small amounts of gold in it , pretty sure its worth the time to bust up and pan....seen base ball size chunks hold 1 to 9 grams in the host rock covered..try it some time?

  • lol oldest trick in the book, you got sent on wild goose chase =))) i leave quartz leading in the other direction of my spots. cleanup is important.

  • One more good video from a great prospector.

  • Do you plan on prospecting some of that creek? Some of those quartz are big...good luck.
