  • 4.34 in video nice spring shackle.... foot long piece of steel...real good for lateral loads right??..how long before that snaps off???

  • @sdfhsdher

I suggest you look a little closer. That is actually a Rocky Road Shackle Reversal system. I know the camera distorted the aspect a bit but I can assure you it is not a foot tall, it is appx 5" in height if my memory serves me correctly. It is made from 1/4" steel, and has a tubular frame stiffener that went between both front SRS hangers to stiffen the frame and ensure it has the lateral stability necessary.

The front has been converted to YJ springs without missing-links.

  • @32greaves

There were no swaybars installed and it had CJ7 HD fronts out back with missing links. The front still had the stock springs up front but the clamps were closed still iirc.

It has a YJ conversion kit up front now and works MUCH better, of course.

  • why do you have break lights on FRONT bumper?

  • @raptormaxx

We had recently put the LED rear tail lights and did not have the trailer adapter nor did I have any diodes to keep the brake lights from back feeding. That was fixed pretty quickly, for obvious reasons. :D

  • my stock samurai flex's better than this. with all the work involved in this kind of mod you would have been better off doing a spoa conversion and buying a ruf kit from rocky road outfitters. it would have probably saved you time and money, not to mention it would more than likely given you better articulation too.

  • @dillbertlee

Look again...it already has an RR SOA :)

Not meaning to be rude but I call BS. There is a huge difference in replacing the leafs with CJ springs. Total time to perform the swap was about an hour and a half. The springs were my CJ's original fronts. Missing links were made from spare parts/steel. Not much time or money. The 2.25" or so wheelbase stretch is nice too.

If you watch more recent vids you'd see he now has YJ springs in the front... YJ Front > RUF anyday.

  • nice samurai. i bought some shackles like that from rocky road i think. they made a world of difference, i can twist my sammy up pretty good.

  • @evulution1337 this setup is completely useless. from what i see this sammi has very little articulation. and i agree, yj not cj springs are way better than a ruf kit.
