Neptune's SummerPalace is what i call my favorite swimming hole, which isn't a hole so much as a landfill; except that the Army Corps of Engineers weren't so much filling in the land as they were bulldozing a Navy machine-shop, barracks and the streets around them into Lake Washington. The lake was about 14 feet lower than usual since the Ballard Locks (a previous project) had gone in, so it needed some filling; plus they had all that stuff that hadn't gotten blown up in the war and weren't going to ever use, like lampposts and airplane engines, and they had to make room for the new stuff for the next war, ya know; put in a machine shop, put up some lampposts. Shit had to fucking go. These are White People we're talking about here, BTW; make more sense now? 'k. Try to keep up, kids.

At any rate it's fun to go swimming on a hot day, pull some debris up and get in touch with the physics of disposable deathculture at it's nexus with the aquifer one drinks from and really, you know, come to understand through bloodloss and exposure exactly how much it must suck to be around or live near humans. No but seriously wear shoes, it's still a little sharp and pokey. Way better than it was, but nothing like it used to be.
