  • GSMD are the best, mine is 9 months old now and comparing to other dogs(younger and older) he listens best. He is a bit jumpy, but i've thought juno(my GSMD) he can't jump at people, so he just jumps straight up in the air.

  • Love all dogs, but these are my two fav breeds :)

  • i have a greater swiss mountain dog, an american bulldog and a rottweiler. i HATE when people say their vicious, and they're too big, and blah blah blah. my girls are the best dogs i've ever met, and just because other people train them wrong, they get a bad rep. it's sickening.

I think, every dog likes to jump. But this is a matter of education. A jumping puppy is very funny, but if you don't like a jumping dog you should forbid it when the dog is a puppy. Most people like it when the puppy jumps. It is very difficult to "tell" an adult dog that it isn't allowed to jump anymore. So you have begin with this education from the first day. My dog don't jump to me - but to my kids when they're playing cause they didn't forbid it from the begin.

  • @multivan2001 But i was just wondering, swissy's are such big dogs and if they ever tried to jump on you i know that they would probably knock you down! did yours ever try to jump on you? and if he did how did you solve this problem? thanks:)

A GSMD from a trusted breeder who lived as a puppy at least 3 months with his mother and siblings (and lived with the breeders family and children in their house and not in the kennel) and was educated with a lot of experience and without violence, and is well socialized with other dogs, people and animals, will never have behavieour problems. By nature most of them are suspicious of strangers.

  • @multivan2001 what type of behavioral problems do swissy's have?
