Concord, NH: Open Carry Incident #5; No Detention/Public Meeting

April 17th 2009. I walked around Concord running some errands. As I was heading west bound on Loudon Rd. the call went over the radio that a man matching my description was heading east on Loudon Rd. bridge. I had been planning to walk to Downtown Concord to go to the hobby shop and ask about a remote controlled airplane. I walked slower once I heard my name go across the radio. Officers didn't appear to make it to the area until I was closer to downtown. I was halfway down Main St when a second call went in over the radio that I was at Main/Loudon Rd. On the way back from the hobby shop I saw two officers in front of me. They were getting into their car as I passed by. I nodded to them they didn't detain me.

Notable items while out:

Before all this I heard "Why are you carrying a gun" screamed by someone in a vehicle. As they didn't stick around for me to answer I'll answer here, "Because a police officer is too big to fit in my pocket."

At some point an officer over the radio said, "That description sounds like that activist."

With the frequency I see open carry videos from you folks in NH I would think it would no longer be an issue for you guys. How is it that you folks are always getting hassled for it? We have our incidents but after they added OC to the yearly update they've dropped off. Is it still an unknown for many town cops or are they willfully going after open carriers?

@YllwFvrPB I haven't been out for walks around town as I used to (about the only time I've been harassed is when I just walk around town). I still OC when I go out shopping or out to eat and tend to not be harassed. I had some personal/political reasons I haven't gone out walking around towns OCing... but we'll give it a shot again to see if harassment continues. Some towns are also more friendly than others; and others are more friendly in certain places and less in other areas.

You look like a smart guy. Get a job. Someone is going to beat you up. Were you home schooled because you got beat up too much. Maybe you wanted to be a rockstar and just couldn't play an instrument. Stick to guitar hero and video games. You are destined for injury... Don't be the next Unibomber because you can't get anyone to pay attention to you.
