Hear about a new sweetener coming out in the Fall 2008 today from http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine as part of their "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" series.

Jimmy was privileged to be invited to the first taste test of Truvia taking place in the heart of New York City at Rockefeller Center on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 and it was such a great time! He met with Cargill representatives who were thrilled about this new all-natural calorie-free sweetener called Truvia.

Jimmy has previously blogged about this sweetener coming to the market thanks to Cargill Foods and The Coca-Cola Company who is looking to put this sweetener in a new diet soda:

Truvia is made with stevia, a sweetener found in a leaf that you grow, as well as a sugar alcohol called erythritol, another all-natural zero-calorie sweetener, that acts as a bulking agent. You can buy a box of 40 packets of Truvia RIGHT NOW by visiting http://www.truvia.com. ENJOY!

  • How does it compare to PureVia? Same taste? Better? Thanks!!!

  • About the same...I like the "clean" taste of Truvia better.

  • I want to say that Truvia is amazing. I do not like the taste of it straight (yuck!) but in baking it is fantastic. I made a cheesecake with splenda and it had an awful after taste. With Truvia it taste just like regular cheesecake. I am so exited about it.

  • AWESOME!

  • I bought some of this over the weekend. I noticed it says 3grams of carbohydrate which i assume is the sugar alcohol. So if i am thinking right, unlike splenda, you do not have to add 1 gram of carb per packet that you use, right?

  • That's exactly right! NO MALTODEXTRIN (corn starch) in Truvia.

  • Thank you. That is so nice of you to inform us all about truvia. I just bought a package yesterday, I wasn't "Really"" sure about using it constantly, but after seeing your video, I feel much more comfortable eating it. It's just a little too good to be true that we are able to taste sweet, without gaining weight, or causing problems to our bodies. I wonder how popular Truvia will get....

  • there is a company that has stevia mixed with FOS (fructoolgliosaccharides) which I would probably prefer over a sugar alcohol..although erythritol is one of the better ones

  • @livinlowcarbman YES! better than splenda or any other sugar/ sweetener

  • @jayoub1518 really? I COULD EAT IT BY ITSELF ALL DAY! mmmm I LOVE it!
