There is nothing wrong with removing mufflers. This isn't a old carb'd chevy.

running straight pipe could damage the engine if too much cold air gets to the motor, it could warp the valves or cause other damage. im not saying dont do it, just be carefull. its actually better to go WOT with straight pipes. i would say get cutouts so you can sound like this when you want but can shut it up and keep the motor alive longer. all that hasnt stopped me from putting real straight pipes on my GTO ( no cats, resonators, or mufflers. just headers and pipes haha)
