Grave Tone
Stichera from Presanctified Liturgy (Friday of the Fourth Week)
chanted beautifully by Byzantine Choir of Odigitria
Translated by Mother Mary and Bishop Kallistos Ware
Presanctified Liturgy -Friday of the Fourth Week
My souls dignity I have enslaved to the passions; I am become like the beasts and have no power to lift mine eyes unto the Most High; but with my head bowed low O Christ i pray to Thee as did the Publican, O God be merciful to me and save me.

  • Notice how the more biblical the chant is, the more beautiful it is.
