One of my all time favorite depictions of what it must have been like during the latter 1800's, as so many immigrant's were moving West to settle in. I grew up with this movie as a youngster in the early 60's and it has never gotten old. It has a special spot on my DVD shelf.
Did you see the car, look 0.30,just to the left, right behind him,you can see it moving, its better on dvd,if you have the film, look at the bit in the barn when the kid asks shane to shoot his gun, there is a window you can see a motor bike go past......cool...........
oeppevnvpeb: you have to know the context. The villain (Jack Pilance) had killed this souther homesteader who had told him that same thing before he was shot. So, Shane was just repeating what he was told the southerner said.
Yes, Shane loves her, and she has a thing for him, but she also loves her husband and is faithful. I think Shane does what he does mostly for her. This is an absolutely beautiful movie, the likes of which they don't make anymore.
It kinda implied Joes Wife has a thing for shane and shane for her and he knows its wrong. He sees the wrong that has been happening to the farmers in the valley and decides to clean up the town. One of my favorite westerns a must see movie imo....
great movie---will always remind me of my father-hes seen this movie 30 times!! one of my favs--along with the Dukes-The Cowboys-the fight scene in this movie was the best EVER filmed imho.
