  • Would like to do APRS not as much GPS, 7R looks real nice, can get a relatively cheap Yagi 2m/440 antenna. Thanks for the info. I will have a Tech license to start in the states.

  • @jss672006 I wish you good luck with your license. I pass mine last year here in UK. All the best and maybe next time on air - 40 or 20M if not echolink ! `73

  • I'm looking at the VX-8DR or GR...

  • @jss672006 Hi, Waste of money really. I have VX-7R tri bander(TX on vhf/uhf and 6m band / 51Mhz) with extended tx anr rx. I had few ht`s and this one is the best. All you need is software to download all freq. and cable. All you need as well is good antena. If Mobile go for watson tri bander+mag mount, house - vertical dual or tri bander or if you want to go full pro cross yagi - best for satelite reception, but you need to know all coordinates+rotator = expensive :) Good luck and `73

  • @919664 Not with a scanner. But if you have ham-license you can talk to them.

  • @robblac Realy long bit of string on VHF? What? Back to school mate

  • @919664 sure, if you had a tin can and a REALY long bit of string..

  • Could you eventually talk back to them ???

  • @morval99 you said

"You received this with the rubber duck?" the ISS is a few houndred meters above the earth so you dont need more antenna.

    73,

  • You received this with the rubber duck?

I'm sure I got the ISS on 145.8 last night on the base scanner, using a 2m/70cms colinear I used to transmit with. I know you need a Yagi to keep hold of the signal for longer. I'm sure the language spoken was Spanish.

  • that it so cool...

  • @skarols ok thanks, will let u know if i pass, looking at and old htx-202 as well. Found some on the net.
