  • in this i htink operator position is not right to extract this tooth ,n when the crown is fractured on crown, two roots should be removed after dividing by airrotor, with the help of cryer elevators,i generally perform this its easy try this.....

  • @azharsrk83,

I respectfully disagree and I would also not use an airrotor for three reasons:

    1) The water is not sterile

    2) The speed is too high to remove bone

    3) The pressure of the air may create an emphysema where air comes inside the tissue.

  • the crown was fractured at the bifurcation bec the operator put pressure on the grip..what i do is to hold the handle firmly with the beak at the bifurcation and slowly move the forcep lingually and bucally until the tooth loosens and then pull it up slowly..if there is any better suggestion?

  • @lennonpaul34,

This is perfectly fine also. You can use the cowhorn in those two different ways: Squeeze the handle and push the tooth out of the bone by the forceps engaging the interseptal bone or as you suggest to go buccal and lingual to expand the bone. I usually do a combination.

  • I am a dentist myself.

The method of giving an injection?????

The method of extraction the molar?????

A very poor way to do it!!!

I hope you give your students in Denmark better instructions!!!!

  • @bonfire

Also, having taught in two countries, there are different techniques taught between Scandinavia and USA. In USA this type of cowhorn is not used. It is referred to as a European cow horn, because the one used here is different (not better, just different). Also we use cartridges for local anesthesia now.

With all due respect, there is nothing wrong with the procedure illustrated in this video. It is a little unusual that elevation is successful in the furcation. The cowhorn does break the crown many times, but into the furcation, which allows for the individual roots to be elevated out easier. I am an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with 20 years of experience in full time academic setting in three different dental schools in two countries.

  • @ANattestad you can use surgical drill only whenever you have to manipulate bone or section roots

  • nice, tooth came out, minimal time, minimal discomfort to patient(from what i can see) everyone has there own way to get the end result, this worked for you, well done!

  • ..Ow ><

  • The tooth should have been elevated first. I thought everyone elevates first and then go in with a forceps. You don't "pull" teeth.

  • I'll do what this guy did in my garage. Instead of Novocaine I use Vodka and a mallet. I can do it in 10 minutes for 30 bucks and a half a pack of Menthols. =)

  • i am a 4th year student here in Malaysia...and as we were taught...that was not the right position and way of using the cowhorn...wasn't the socket supposedly be loosen buccaly and lingually beforereloving the tooth out?? why bother fracturing the tooth??

  • Thanks again.

  • I had general anaesetic for multiple extractions yesterday

so glad my toothache is gone after months and months of pain
