The Rakefish sculpture was created last year by students at A. W. Cox Elementary School in Guilford. The students decided to create a piece of art to represent the large patch of trash floating around the Pacific Ocean call the Great Pacific Garbage patch.

During this school year, the fish will travel to six elementary schools across the United States, including Hawaii to teach children about the Garbage Patch before it returns home to CT. The fish is a teaching tool for all the receiving schools. There will be information enclosed in the shipping crate including. information about the Great Pacific Patch, a Powerpoint presentation that each school can add to, a pledge for students to sign - committing to reduce waste.
