Chinlon (cane-ball) Tournament, Burma (Myanmar)

Chin Lon is a national (men only) sport in Burma. A team co-operatively attempts to keep a small ball of woven rattan permanently airborne using any part of their body except the arms or hands. Even young boys can be spectacularly adroit and create an entertaining spectacle in the street. When we happened to be in Mandalay in July 2010, we heard there was to be a championship, so of course we went - and it was indeed a a treat. Especially the guy who could rap-dance while holding the ball with one foot! Another of ny videos shows the rap-dancer, and a third showcases the musicians.
