When a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti on January 12th, 2010, it hit the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Just under 80% of Haiti's 9.6 million people live on less than $2 per day. About half of Haiti's population lacks clean drinking water. These images, taken in Haiti in 2009 by photographer Jeff Antebi, illustrate that a majority of Haitians were struggling to get by before the earthquake struck.
