Solar power pool heating can be home-made at low cost for those with low budget that cant pay the 1000 dollars, her's a solution for aprox 300 dollars cost.
You need :
copper tubes
T-joints
flame torch
tin wire
"U" shaped extruded frame
rivet gun & rivets or use silicone to fix frame
galvanised steel sheet (paint black)
grey foam sheet insulator roll
spray paint can
5mm glass
silicon sealer
all working a 1m x 2m solar panel will give at least 60 degrees at water tap pressure....this is because the tubes are in parallel and the speed at which the water runs thru the tubes is lower than entry and exit, transferring maximum amounts of heat from the black painted tubes.
good luck!

hey why dont you take your solar heater and connect it to your pump, that way it is heating up the water of your pool. If you want I can send you a vid on how to do it.
We made our own. But great video

is the solar panel going to be hot?

Great effort! Solar power is really beneficial and the best alternative!

@vanbruiser
When you want to make use of heat / thermo-syphoning, the hot water out has to go to a higher positioned place.
If not, it won't work.
I would go for a slow pump that extracts the water from the pool and returns hotter water, I don't know if the pool circulation pump is too fast for the water to heat up in the panel. (as catatonicable suggested)

You can use a saddle valve on the existing pool pump, which shares the pressure to circulate, its an idea to put a oneway valve if its high up and a tap to slow the flow, maximising the heat.

instead of forcing the water through the solar collector with hose from spigot what if you put the source hose right in the pool? would the water flow from the pool through the heater and back to the pool due to thermosiphoning?
