This is the 5.9 aftershock that happened at 14:50. I was watching the news reports of the damage caused by this afternoon's 6.3 quake - about 2 hours earlier.

  • Yep save the tv and the wine classic, good job. Thats what i wld do.

  • @chchtemptress Unfortunately the first big June aftershock made that big TV do a back-somersault off that table and broke that wine glass, along with other glasses and crockery. The TV is now G-clamped to the table and I drink my wine from a big, thick, quake-resistant beer-mug! So far, so good.

  • shit u ahd to look twice there if that was pot in the shells there :O

  • @ashleyf69er It's lavender: keeps the mozzies away: spices up curries as well.

  • how far away from christchurch are you, to still have power at this time, and the shake seemed rather gentle?

  • @BLOEDVLEK This is about 18kms north of the city centre, and the epicentre was about 10kms south of the city, so we had less of an upheaval than the city had. It was the other way round with the September 7.1 quake.

  • @radames57 After 6 months of aftershocks (over 5000 of them) I reckon I'm in a better position to judge the danger than perhaps you are. That TV sits on my earthquake shelter (that robust pine table that my brother built for me): if the house started toppling, I would have dived under that table. The deadly 6.3 quake 2 hours earlier moved the TV over 1 foot, nearly off the edge of the table. In the 7.1 5 months earlier, you couldn't have run or walked anywhere: the place shook so violently!

  • This guy! Having a glass of wine! You are awesome. I live in chch on the east side, we have lost our house and i lost a mate and i can honestly say......after THOUSANDS of aftershocks there is nothing better then sitting with a glass of wine or beer to relax. Hope you are still enjoying it!

  • ;) Nice job

  • Heck, I like this guy. Wine an all, and first things first, save the TV. Total kiwi style!

  • yup... Typical man.... SAVE THE BOOZE & TV!!!!

  • I agree with the power thing, Very fortunate. We didn't have power for 4 weeks, and longer with no water... we were in Avondale.

  • fantastic video!!! it really captures the shit that we have been going through for months now

  • @royalbuff123 I can imagine,i felt the Baja California 7.2 earthquake last year and it was a scary experience. I cant imagine how it felt on the epicenter..I wish you and the rest of Christchurch Good luck
