@ipfeldspar Doing that is a sure way to get brought in for a delay to assignment. Trains don't slow down because they see cars.

nice video but hows come the train stops at the crossing? I didn't see a train station from that view. are you one of the crew?

I was a passenger/railfan. The view does not really show it, but there was a car waiting a a grade crossing to left of the freight. I am guessing that the engineer was concerned that the car would bolt as soon as the freight cleared the crossing and so he slowed down and was prepared to stop. We never fully stopped and the Station was aprox 1 mile behind us.
