Terry Riley in particular, and minimalist music in general, is for me the musical equivalent of reading classic philosophers. If you can suspend your usual expectations of the medium, it's shocking the places in your mind it can take you. There are corners of our own consciousness we are barely aware exist.

I bought this album when it first came out. Me & my mates never took drugs but we used to sit round a "Bubble" lamp (called a Lava Lamp) & watch the changing shapes in a pseudo-hippie style. Lol. Completely hypnotic. Completely brilliant. Ever-changing, but so slowly that you don't notice the progression.
I still have the vinyl !

I have several versions of this, including one that I thought was the original Terry Riley recording, and the one here is much, much faster than any other version I've ever hard. Did you speed it up to fit it under the 10 minute mark?

In C consists of 53 short, numbered musical phrases, lasting from half a beat to 32 beats; each phrase may be repeated an arbitrary number of times. Each musician has control over which phrase he or she plays: players are encouraged to play the phrases starting at different times, even if they are playing the same phrase. weird how that works so well lol
