  • Heh, I remember my favorite Death line, "No, Humans need fantasy to be human, to be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape"

  • Im glad that this is stirring up some memories for you. Its been way too long since I did anything Discworld related, I think I may review Soul Music soon

  • Don't know about the book book, I listened to this one as an Audio Book and have a couple more of them still to listen to. Have to completely agree with you on Death, by far the most interesting of characters in DW. I've only seen the SKY two parter of Hog Father, which I though was really good.

  • Hogfather was a fantastic adaptation, the actress who played Susan was perfect IMO. Who was reading the book? I reallyb like the guy who played Neil in The Young Ones and Tony Robinson

  • Do you know man Monstrous Regiment is the only Discworld book I haven't been able to get into. I've tried reading it twice and both times it bored the crap out of me. As much as its refreshing to see different characters in the books I do love the watch series. The progression from tiny outfit of bell ringers to fully fledged respected arm of the law is fantastic to read. That and Guards Guards is IMO one of the funnies books written

  • Fair point, I also enjoyed how that was taken further in Monstrous Regiment and illustrated how how the rumor started about him in the Fifth Elephant had solidified into his reputation in the region as "Vimes the Butcher".

  • The Watch are great but I have to admit they're rivaled for my effection with the witches and and Susan

  • Thankyou. I like the watch series but for a time it seemed like that was all that was coming out from Pterry. It was refreshing to see how other people viewed Vimes like William De Worde in The Truth

  • You know Geore of all my subscribers I thought you'd be one who enjoyed the wit and humour of Pratchett. Yeah Reg becomes a member of the watch. Im enjoying doing the Discworld reviews so there is a good chance there'll be more to come

  • You do indeed remember correctly there George old boy, he is a member of the watch nowadays. Fun sidenote, he was hired in order to alleviate complains from the undead community, however complains doubled after he joined, all of them directed at Reg.

Anyhoo, good review of an excellent book, even though I've personally gravitated away from the death series towards the Vimes series lately, though I couldn't honestly say which I prefer.
