In the 2nd of my videos from the 2009 Delaware 200 we see the end of the race.
First off you see #23 Jeff Lapcevich spin in turn 4.
We skip ahead to a restart with about 10 laps to go and a huge crash breaks out in the back between #40 Joey Hassen, #27 Andrew Ranger, #23 Jeff Lapcevich and #18 Kent Nuhn.

That sets up a green white checkered finish. However on the restart 2nd place driver #4 Don Thompson Jr jumps the start to take the lead so NASCAR throws a caution and sets up another green white checkered.
On the second GWC Thompson cleanly beats leader DJ Kennington to turn 1 however once in front Kennington gets into the back of Thompson and the #4 spins around collecting the #22 of Scott Steckly, #95 Anthony Simone and #77 Derek Lynch.

So that sets up a 3rd GWC this time between #17 DJ Kennington and #60 Ron Beauchamp Jr.
After some contact on the first lap Kennington gets away clean and holds on to win the Delaware 200, his first Canadian Tire Series win since Barrie in September 2007.

Television coverage will be posted on either June 14th or 15th.

  • I'm not sure on what to think of that spin D.J. made on the 4 of Thompson... But either way, congrats D.J.!!!

Got to know D.J. really well when he was racing in the Hooters Pro Cup Series. HIm along with Robbie Thompson and John Gaunt.

  • same here, i have no problems with Kennington however i didnt know what to think when he wrecked Thompson, the 4 was totally clear and ahead and the 17 just wrecked him.

A very odd, yet very entertaining finish, im sure next week when the broadcast is up people agree, it seems more people watch the actual broadcasts i post then this lol

  • I get the same thing... I wish more people would check out my short track videos. I think what I'm watching on the short tracks is better racing than what TV rams down our throat. (Minus the CTS... Wish SPEED would show them still).

Also... any idea on how far from the Michigan/Ontario borders this would be to get to?

  • Delaware Speedway?

it depends on what boarder your at, from the Detroit/Windsor boarder its about a 2 hour drive. From the Port Huron/Sarnia boarder its like 45-50 minutes

  • was #81 suable falls andrew gower or sumthing there?

  • Kennington sucks.

  • I was at this race rooting for the #4 car (Don Thomson Jr.) and I needed to see a better look at what happened on that restart where he spun out. Thanks!

  • kennington didnt wreck him he drove into the corner way over his head and braked when he did dj tapped him and he spun that wasent a hard hit at all

  • I think what happened with DJ and Thompson at the end was not Kennington's fault, Thompson had to come down for the turn to block DJ but he had to do some serious braking, which made Kennington get into the back of him.. From the video it looks as if Kennington barely hit him.

  • I was talking Detroit/Windsor. Detroit is 3 hours from me in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I'm trying to think what the closest CaTS race would be to me. I would love to see one of these races live once.

  • RESTART FAILURE! lol

  • Oh, that makes sense now, lol. thanks for the clarification
