The noise has been puzzling me for WEEKS. And then yesterday I went out my back door and there are ALL THESE BUGS in the trees behind us. It scared me at first but they just fluttered from branch to branch. Then they finally had it on the news last night so its nice to have an explanation...

Believe it or not, they're edible! If you've got a lot of them, catch them with a butterfly net. Sort them by males and females by holding them. If they buzz, let them go, it's a male. If not, keep them, it's a female. Her abdomen is full of fat! Put them in a bag and pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes to kill them. Then clean off the wings and legs, stir-fry in a wok with a few tablespoons of smoking-hot sesame oil, fresh ginger, five-spice and pepper. Serve over rice or noodles!
