  • Looks good and super familiar. Basically identical to my 100 from '79. Run Seafoam in the gas to the recommended level and get a can of Decarb spray or similar BRP product and follow the dosing instructions. It will make it run so much better. The new champion QL77JC4 plugs run great in this motor. I run Amsoil Saber Outboard at 80:1 in mine. On my Carlson I regularly run the motor to 5800 wide open for the 2 mile stretch across my lake. 6000 - 6200 isn't uncommon depending on conditions. Prope

  • @thefuzzbutt I did a couple of times, it still ran well without a decarb and I ran the same plugs. I sold the motor just this year and replaced it with a merc 1000 , the merc goes 5mph faster than the johnson.

  • wow that runs really smooth especially for an old carbed 2 stroke, i'm serious i've never seen an old v4 run so smooth...i got rid of my old yamaha 130 that was from 1988 and i could never get that thing to run smooth on idle and i've rebuilt the carbs on that thing so many times i lot count and i used stabil on every fill up, i also changed almost all the electrical components on it and had the timing perfect....i repowered with a 2003 115 hp evinrude ficht, the one fixed by bombardier

  • @fishaholic2012 Thanks, I've had it 3 seasons now and haven't had to do anything except replace the rectifier, next spring i'm going to go through the carbs and do the impeller.

  • No electric fuel pump either

  • Let me say it clearly, these old cross flow V4's (before oil injection) were the best friggen motors EVER built. Ever.

  • @polariskid13 I've had a 1990 90hp Johnson for two years now on a 1976 15' tri-hull.Run 87 octane,50:1 any oil,and Seafoam.Kicking ass everywhere we go.

  • I have a suzuki dt 90 v4 .The suzuki and yamaha v4's were and are still the best motors.

  • Nice Motor B... ! If anyone believes Johnson/Evinrude/OMC is not the best or fastest then you need to ask the question, Who/What holds the Outboard Speed Record to date.

  • @cpgixxer you're welcome, if you maintain these motors they will last a lifetime. most outboards die from lack of maintenance, overheating, lack of oil in the fuel or not enough oil going to the engine and salt water corrosion and not from wearing out....people that take good care of their motors have pushed their outboards to well over 10,000 hours and haven't had a problem. good luck!

  • we found out it the four piston it has gray water stuff the marine place said it need new gasest and headgaset.. but it still run good it use all of gas. but johnson are the best
