State Benefits Approved

NOTE: NOT SSI/SSDI - it's a state "General Assistance/Unemployable" benefit for disabled persons who can't work on a TEMPORARY basis. Stop bitching about people who got denied SSI/SSDI, this is not the same thing... I wish them the best in their appeals.

I was finally approved for state disability due to my depression, social anxiety, and depression (etc). What now?

Contiued from my comment below, If I get better and can go back to work I would lose SSI and Section 8 Rental Assistance which took two years to get on, Food EBT card and Medicaid which adds up to around $2000 a month so I'd need a Job paying 2000 just to cover the assistance I'd lose working thats not counting the cost of my 3 kids and us a month.

You know whats hard is getting SSI and supporting myself, 3 kids and a wife that can work but wont. We get Section 8 housing Assistance, Food EBT card and Medicaid and barely make it every month if I could work I would HAVE to make Around 2200 a month. Thats my bills if I worked without getting the assistance

I hear ya candygurl524 It took me 2 years of fighting to get just on SSI. I've been disabled since 18 and I'm 27 now and my Bibolar and Social Anxiety is getting worse not better and Social Security already last year to up and stop my check I fought and Won thank god but its no walk in the park getting on disability and staying on it

2 :nikamirovak:go to the disabilty sites from lawyers. Get a lawyer. Save all medical documentation. Make copies. Once u get a lawyer; keep lawyer updated on any and all changes no matter how trivial 2 you.

congratulations on getting approved for disability. i know it can be so hard to make a strong case for depression/anxiety. my wife and i are thinking of trying to get her benefits for her severe depression and social anxiety. i was wondering if you had any tips for making the case strong enough. thanks so much.

i understand EXACTLY what you are going through because i am going through the same with the depression and anxiety and i think i am also suffering from social anxiety but need to get evaluated because im not the social type and i think its what keeps me from working.i hope you find a good therapist because i know its hard i had shitty ones myself

people really need to stop bitching. The reason she's on a temporary benifit is becuase she is planning to work in the furute. I'm only 16, and it's not so much of a big deal, but I was taken out of school 2 years early becuase of depression and anger problems. It's actually very difficult to focus when you have these issues.

You are not alone, since 2000 I have been fighting depression and anger I have only worked 5 years out of 10 my last job ...I just walked off the job...I need to start the SSD process but I get depressed just thinking about it...plus my right eye is going blind...it does look like I got a part time job at a retail store but I am already thinking of scenarios of how I get angry and quit that job.
