@LicoriceLain numan stated in his book that this song is about obsession,and being so influenced by somebody you do things that otherwise would be completely beyond you.it also ends with a line about Jamie Bulger who was killed by two other children in Liverpool,England and how that could happen?And asks if that incident made people question their faith?R.I.P Jamie.

@hehfilms As for Numan, he isn't questioning. He knows (he is a Gnostic Atheist) there is no God of any kind. This song is exploring how it affects his life.

@hehfilms You are kind of simple, aren't you? :P jk "Heresy" has multiple layers actually, each of them more exploratory than an assertion of a theological position. As for him claiming to be Deist, that doesn't run contradictory to what I said. Deist is quite possibly the most ambiguous standpoint of them all as it could entail absolutely anything including a belief in the Christian God minus the rituals. So no, I am not off base here.

@hehfilms "Question of Faith" is more honest, I must say, though. I don't know about anyone else, but the more I listen to Reznor's music, the more I get a Christian vibe. The way he phrases things on his later albums just doesn't sound right for someone who isn't a believer.
